Antonio presents at UAA 2026 in Chicago
Antonio presented at the 2026 Urban Affairs Association Conference
The title of Antonio’s talk was Identifying Racial Code Words in Public Perceptions of Affordable Housing. The talk focused on the application of a racial meaning decoding tool (developed by Deidre Pfeiffer — who organized the session — and Xiaoqian Hu) to open-ended text responses from an original, nationally diverse survey (N = 534) of public perceptions of affordable housing. The presentation made the case that the racial decoding tool could help housing advocates identify and address racially coded opposition which, if translated into policy, may violate fair housing law.
