In our paper titled “Effects of architectural interventions on psychological, cognitive, social, and pro-environmental aspects of occupant well-being: Results from an immersive online study,” we replicate a laboratory study conducted in-person using an immersive online survey approach. We find that exposing online participants to environments with windows decreases their stress and augments their sense of belonging; natural materials reduce stress; and exposure to decor with representations of diverse people enhances creativity. Our study demonstrates that immersive online survey approaches can serve as a viable experimental paradigm to test hypotheses about the built environment.
