Flora Featured at Pint of Science Festival 2026, Palo Alto

Flora presented her research on nature identity at the Pint of Science Festival in Palo Alto on May 20, 2026. Her talk was part of an evening event titled "The Science of Feeling Safe," which brought together four researchers exploring stress, learning, finance, and wellbeing at Sprout Café. Pint of Science is a global nonprofit festival that connects researchers with the public in accessible, community-centered settings.

The title of Flora's talk was Find Your Nature In Nature, which comes from her theoretical work on Nature Identity: the idea that nature is not only an environment we visit, but a part of who we are. The audience was invited to learn about the scientific evidence of nature's benefits on our wellbeing, including the wellbeing benefits of indoor nature, supported by much of our lab's previous work. They were then invited to think together about what nature is, and to reflect on their own nature experiences, definitions, and sense of self in nature along the way. The talk ended on the note that "we don't get nature's benefits by being in it; we get nature, and all its benefits, when we have it in us."
